Editorial Standards

Cosmic Herald exists to explain space and astronomy accurately, for a general audience. This page sets out exactly how we report, source, and check what we publish — and how we use technology in the newsroom.

Sourcing

Every article is reported from primary and authoritative sources: mission updates and data from agencies such as NASA and ESA, peer-reviewed research, observatory and institutional releases, and reporting from established science publications. We do not rewrite a single outlet's story. Each article cites at least three sources, with at least one primary source (a .gov, .edu, .int, or official agency page), listed openly in a "Sources" section at the foot of the piece.

Fact-checking

Before publication, every article passes an automated review that confirms its sourcing requirements are met and verifies that each cited link resolves to a live page — so readers never hit dead citations. Factual claims are grounded in the cited material; where a figure or date is uncertain, we say so rather than guess. When new findings supersede old reporting, we update.

How we use AI — and why a human is always responsible

We are transparent about this: Cosmic Herald's articles are drafted with the assistance of AI tooling, working from sources gathered and read for each story. That assistance is a writing and research aid, not an autopilot. Every article is produced through a draft → review → publish workflow, attributed to a named correspondent, and no piece goes live without human editorial review. We do not mass-publish unreviewed, unsourced content. Our goal is to use technology to report more clearly and cite more rigorously — not to cut corners on accuracy.

Our correspondents

Articles carry a byline from a named member of our desk, each with a defined beat and a published biography:

Corrections

Space moves fast, and early reports can change. We aim to be clear about what is confirmed versus expected, and we correct mistakes promptly when they are brought to our attention. To report an error, email [email protected] with the article and the correction.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently of any advertising on this site. Advertising and affiliate relationships, where they exist, never influence what we cover or how we cover it.

Accuracy is not a claim of authority

Cosmic Herald is an independent publication and is not affiliated with NASA, ESA, or any space agency. Coverage is for general information and education. For questions, corrections, or partnerships, reach us at [email protected].
